| El caso documenta la mortandad masiva y progresiva de cisnes de cuello negro (Cygnus melancoryphus) y otras aves silvestres en el Lago Budi (La Araucanía, Chile) y en el corredor patagónico (Chile y Argentina) a causa del virus H5N1 de influenza aviar de alta patogenicidad, entre 2022 y 2026. El brote no fue inesperado: la trayectoria del virus era observable desde 2020-2021, y los sistemas de alerta científica funcionaron. Lo que falló fue la respuesta institucional.
