CASE 04 — ADDENDUM A
METHODOLOGICAL PRINCIPLE:This addendum does not assert that Google Earth or Starlink are responsible for the deaths and disappearances documented in CASE 04. It documents that the research fields of the 11 scientists coincide precisely with the domains of direct competition between the public sector (NASA/JPL) and the private sector (Google/SpaceX). That structural friction is the verified context.
HALLAZGO CENTRAL / QUID DE LA CUESTIÓN
CENTRAL FINDING / CRUX OF THE MATTER
The 11 scientists worked in the precise domains where the forced transfer of public knowledge to private surveillance and defense infrastructure occurs. NASA/JPL generates scientific knowledge with public funding. Google Earth and Starlink/SpaceX convert it into private products for orbital control, surveillance and military operations. The missing or deceased scientists were the institutional custodians of that knowledge in the public domain. McCasland was the military arbiter of which private technologies gain access to the defense apparatus. This friction is not speculative: it is documented in formal regulatory agreements between the FCC, NASA and SpaceX, and in the verified dependence of Google Earth on JPL technology.
NODO 1 — GOOGLE EARTH vs. NASA/JPL
NODE 1 — GOOGLE EARTH vs. NASA/JPL
Google Earth was built on technology developed with public funds. JPL developed GIPSY-OASIS, the GPS positioning software that provides precise coordinates for satellite imagery. DigitalGlobe licenses that technology from JPL and supplies imagery to Google Earth. The complete chain is: public knowledge (JPL) → private license (DigitalGlobe) → commercial and defense product (Google Earth, Bing, Nokia). Google Earth supplies imagery for defense and intelligence, civil agencies, mapping, environmental monitoring and oil and gas exploration. The defense geospatial data sector represents 65% of the $2.2B global market. JPL generates the base knowledge. The private sector captures the market.

Frank Maiwald (JPL, died 04/07/2024): Working on the SBG (Surface Biology and Geology) mission — Earth observation system with VSWIR (Visible to Shortwave Infrared) imagery to map Earth’s ‘living color.’ Equivalent technology to what Google Earth uses for Earth observation, but from the public-scientific domain. Monica Reza (JPL, missing 22/06/2025): Director of Materials Processing Group at NASA/JPL. Orbital communication systems. Managed data and materials from missions that produce the information feeding observation systems like Google Earth. Michael David Hicks (JPL, died 30/07/2023): 24 years at JPL. Carl Grillmair (Caltech/IPAC, died 16/02/2026): Exoplanets, stellar streams, near-Earth objects. NEOWISE mission — infrared detection from orbit. Orbital observation technology that Google Earth uses commercially.
NODO 2 — STARLINK/SpaceX vs. NASA/JPL y astronomía
NODE 2 — STARLINK/SpaceX vs. NASA/JPL and astronomy
The friction between Starlink and NASA/JPL is formal and documented. The FCC conditioned Starlink licenses on SpaceX ‘must communicate and collaborate with NASA to ensure that deployment and operation of its satellites does not unduly constrain deployment and operation of NASA assets and missions.’ Starlink constitutes 65% of all active satellites (over 10,020 as of March 2026) and plans to scale to 42,000. Its massive deployment in low orbit reduces the capacity of NASA and other actors to launch satellites occupying that orbit. Starlink satellites contaminate astronomical night-sky observations with bright streaks, directly affecting near-Earth object detection. SpaceX operates Starshield, a military version of Starlink for the US government, with initial contracts of $150M for detection and tracking of ballistic and hypersonic missiles.

Carl Grillmair (Caltech/IPAC, died 16/02/2026): Working on NEOWISE and NEO Surveyor — near-Earth object detection. Starlink satellites directly interfere with the ability to detect NEOs: their bright streaks contaminate optical and infrared observations. Starlink obstructs precisely the work Grillmair was doing. Nuno Loureiro (MIT, died 16/12/2025): Director of MIT Plasma Science and Fusion Center. Plasma physics is the technological basis of unconventional propulsion systems and hypersonics — precisely the domain in which Starshield (Starlink’s military version) operates with hypersonic missile detection and tracking contracts. William McCasland (USAF ret., missing 27/02/2026): Director of the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL). The AFRL evaluates and certifies which private military technologies are suitable for defense use — including Starshield. McCasland was the institutional arbiter deciding which SpaceX technologies gain access to the US military apparatus. He was, in terms of CASE 03, the public guarantor of the system against privatization. Amy Eskridge (IES, died 11/06/2022): Anti-gravity propulsion and electrostatic systems. Research that directly competes with SpaceX’s advanced propulsion programs. She stated before her death: ‘it’s only going to get worse until I publish.’ Monica Reza (JPL, missing 22/06/2025): Reza’s work at JPL was overseen by McCasland. Direct documented connection between both cases.
MAPA ESTRUCTURAL DEL CAMPO DE FRICCIÓN
STRUCTURAL MAP OF THE FRICTION FIELD
The friction occurs in three overlapping layers that the ADC system operates simultaneously:
Capa (ES)
Mecanismo (ES)
Layer (EN)
Mechanism (EN)
1. Conocimiento
1. Knowledge
NASA/JPL generates public knowledge with public funding (GIPSY, Earth observation, NEO, plasma). Google Earth and Starlink convert it into private product. The scientists are the public custodians of that knowledge.
2. Orbit
Starlink physically occupies the orbital space NASA needs for its missions. The FCC had to condition Starlink licenses on not interfering with NASA. 10,020 Starlink satellites (65% of all active satellites) restrict the operational capacity of public missions.
3. Arbitraje
3. Arbitration
The AFRL (Air Force Research Laboratory), directed by McCasland, certifies which private technologies gain access to the defense apparatus. McCasland was the last public institutional guarantor against private capture of the defense system. His disappearance removes that arbitration node.
SÍNTESIS: CONEXIÓN CASO 03 → CASO 04
SYNTHESIS: CONNECTION CASE 03 → CASE 04
CASE 03 documented the circuit: an opaque entity (In-Q-Tel) finances companies (Palantir, Keyhole) that manage the threats the system requires to persist, and that appropriate public knowledge to convert it into private surveillance products. CASE 04 and this addendum document the same circuit in the spatial-orbital domain: NASA/JPL generates public knowledge. Google Earth and Starlink capture it as private infrastructure. The 11 scientists worked at the precise point of that transfer. Digital Capitalist Absolutism is not just a theory: it has names, research fields, specific people at the friction node, and a pattern of institutional silence when those people disappear or die.
NOTA FINAL METODOLÓGICA:Este addendum establece el contexto estructural verificado. No establece causalidad.
FINAL METHODOLOGICAL NOTE:This addendum establishes the verified structural context. It does not establish causality. What a system of power without real democratic controls permits is that anything becomes possible — including eleven custodians of public knowledge in the highest-friction domains disappearing or dying without institutional explanation. That, and not an accusation, is what the archive documents.CASE 04 remains open. FBI/NNSA/White House investigations ongoing as of 19/04/2026.
